I have filed for my renewal EAD on May 29th at NSC. My current EAD expires on Sept 24th. I havent got the renewal EAD yet, where as my wife got it both applications were sent in the same envelope. I am working on EAD and am losing sleep since if my EAD doesnt come in time I will be out of my payroll.
Has some one gone to the local USCIS office to get the interim EAD recently? I was told that option no longer exists.
Can some one post the FAX #s to expedite EAD requests?

I applied on July 16th & got EAD on Sept 24th.
No news on AP & biometrics.
Other coworkers who applied at same time have mixed results - 2 got only fingerprints, 4 got EADs, 1 got EAD & AP. I think it is all random

Just don't use immigration expert chandler sharma from Atlanta because this immigration expert doesn't handle immigration matters once you pay a 100 dollar fee at the reception.
If you call to ask for an immigration expert to schedule an appointment, Mr Chandler sharma from Atlanta is the first and foremost person. When you go into this office, he says he deals in civil and business law....hahahhaha.

I have a follow-up question. If I do not get my EAD before my current one expires, am i out of status? I have a LIN number for the renewal submission.
As long as You have Applied in Time You are not Out of status. If you have crossed 90 days , you can go to local immigration office and request for the temporary permit.
I submitted renewal on July 12, and I received an email on saturday for Card Production ordered and I did not receive any FP notice for renewal.

My 9th year H1-b extension was applied on March 13, and I got the email today from USCIS that the approval notice has been sent. This is a CA ( WAC) case.

Hello Friends,
My current passport is expiring in Jun 07. I have applied for passport renewal at Indian Embassy (Washington D.C.) in 3rd week of Jan 07 via courier. I may have to travel urgently to India by end of this month. Just wondering if anyone recently got their passport renewed at DC and what was the duration. It will help me to take the decision about departure date. Unfortunately DC is 5 hours drive from where I live. I am not sure even if take a day off and drive to DC to collect the passport they will even give it to me on the same day. Multiple attempts to contact DC office via phone/email were not helpful. No one picks the phone and their voice mail system is always full. Any advise on what I should to do know status of my passport renewal would be appreciated.

You should use Tatkal scheme. I paid extra 90$ and got the passport within 2 days. Its worth.

Report indicates that Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), Rep. Nydia Velasquez (D-N.Y.) and Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) will meet with President Barack Obama this afternoon to talk about the chances of getting comprehensive immigration reform or the DREAM Act passed in the lame duck session, signaling the Democrats, Hispanics, and Obama turning their posture in CIR or DREAM from "defensive" to "offensive" strategy, by going forward with the all-court pressing DREAM or CIR during the Lame Duck session. For this apparent strategy, time is indeed short and running out. There was also report that the House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) could bring the DREAM Act to the floor as early as this week. This strategy will push and corner Republicans to the "defensive" position in connection with the 2012 Presidential and another national election. For this matter, the Democrats have nothing to lose by pushing for DREAM or CIR during this Lame Duck session while they are in a majority position. Failure to pass the DREAM Act during the Lame Duck session will be placed on the Republicans, which are likely to bring about some Republican casualties and political liabilities in 2012 election. From the perspecitives of the DREAM activists, this is indeed considered a last chance and they are taking an aggressive position to take advantage of such political strategy of the Democrats. I have this exact same issue. My wife can't come back before 1st Oct. She will be coming back Late Nov. What we want is to go for H1-b stamping and come back on H1-b.
Last set of questions asked by sunny is what I am also interested in. Can somebody confirm/deny that you can go for H1-b stamping and come back on H1-b (H1-b was filed as Change of status request to be effective on Oct 1).

Thats not true.. A few days back I read on IV forum itself that around 10K were wasted this year too.
Was it reported from AILA or ombudsman or someone making prediction? A few days ago, USCIS issued a report saying that they approved 60k GCs due to the July fiasco. That should cover all available visa numbers for FY 2007.

10/17/2007: Total of 60,000+ EB-485 Applications Adjudicated During July-August-September by NSC and TSC
* AILA has reported that during the period of July, August, and September 2007, Nebraska Service Center and Texas Service Center adjudicated 60,000 plus EB-485 applications. Since EB visa number was unavailable for the entire EB cases in August, presumedly a substantial portion of these cases could include those cases for which the EB visa numbers were pull out before July 2, 2007 in June and adjudicated throughout the period as reported by some I-485 applicants who reported that their I-485 applications were approved when the visa number was unavailable. Interesting.
